Bedford Junior Cricket Club (BJCC) respects the privacy of our players, parents, guardians, volunteers and other members of our community. We are committed to handling personal information responsibly and in accordance with applicable privacy laws and good privacy practice.
What personal information do we collect?
The personal information we collect or have access to will depend on your involvement with the Club and may include:
- names, addresses, email addresses and phone numbers;
- dates of birth, age and other information required for player registration and team allocation;
- parent, guardian and emergency contact details;
- cricket registration, participation and team information;
- information relating to coaches, managers and other volunteers;
- Working with Children Check or other safeguarding information where required;
- photos or videos where appropriate consent has been provided; and
- health, medical or other sensitive information where it is reasonably required for the safety or participation of a player.
How do we collect personal information?
Personal information may be collected directly from players, parents, guardians and volunteers, or through registration and cricket administration systems such as PlayHQ. We may also receive information through email, Club forms, team communications and other activities associated with running the Club.
Where information relates to a child, we will generally communicate with and obtain information through their parent or guardian where appropriate.
Why do we collect and use personal information?
BJCC may collect and use personal information to:
- register players and administer cricket programs;
- form teams and manage competitions, training and fixtures;
- communicate with players, parents, guardians and volunteers;
- manage coaches, team managers and other volunteers;
- support player safety, welfare and safeguarding requirements;
- organise Club events and activities;
- process registrations, fees and other Club administration;
- meet insurance, legal and regulatory requirements; and
- provide relevant Club news and information.
Sensitive information
Sensitive information may include health information, disability information and other information given additional protection under privacy law. BJCC will only collect, use or disclose sensitive information where it is reasonably necessary for Club activities and where we have appropriate consent or are otherwise permitted or required by law.
Sharing personal information
Where reasonably necessary for the administration of cricket, BJCC may share personal information with organisations involved in administering the sport, including WA Cricket, Cricket Australia, competition administrators and service providers such as PlayHQ.
We may also disclose personal information where you have consented to the disclosure, where it is necessary to protect the safety or welfare of a person, or where we are required or authorised to do so by law.
Player registrations are processed through Australian Cricket’s systems and PlayHQ. Information provided through these services is also handled in accordance with the relevant service provider and Australian Cricket privacy policies. Security and retention
BJCC takes reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Access to personal information should be limited to Club officials and volunteers who reasonably require it to perform their role.
Personal information will only be retained for as long as it is reasonably required for Club purposes or as required by law. When information is no longer required, reasonable steps will be taken to securely delete, destroy or de-identify it.
Accessing or correcting your personal information
You may request access to personal information BJCC holds about you or your child, or ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or out of date.
Some information held within PlayHQ can also be viewed or updated through your PlayHQ account.
